UW-LaCrosse, Mississippi River Camp
www.uwlax.edu/precollegetutoring/summer
The Mississippi River Adventure 2001 Introductory Session is a week-long residential program for middle-school students that introduces them to a college campus and the natural sciences. Scientific study, applied mathematic principles, and computer skills will be used to identify and examine water-quality problems in the Mississippi and La Crosse River watersheds. Classrooms, canoeing, and campfires are all part of this hands-on adventure.

Our Intermediate Session is about self-challenge and respect for personal choice. This outdoor experience uses canoeing, camping, cave exploration, and a ropes course to develop leadership skills, cooperative learning strategies, and cross-cultural coalitions within a formal curriculum. Effective communication and conflict resolution are among the benefits of this program. All backgrounds and cultural perspectives will be honored.

The UW-LaCrosse summer program provides weekly tutoring at the Norwalk/Ontario elementary school library. Student ages range from first grade through middle school.
For more information, contact Guy Wolf.
